More than 20 years of experience with prefabricated bathrooms

When Benny Madsen got his first job in 2004 as a newly graduated architectural technologist and construction manager, he didn’t necessarily plan to make prefabricated bathrooms his field of expertise. But that’s how things went.

Today, Benny has more than 20 years of experience with prefabricated bathrooms, and he has followed the development at very close quarters – from the first years as project designer and planner in a drawing office to roles as project manager, key account manager, senior market manager and senior sales manager across Denmark, Norway and Sweden.

“I stayed in the industry because the work was constantly evolving. I was allowed to participate in exciting projects, follow the largest building projects and be close to the development in architecture, production and technical solutions,” says Benny.

An industry undergoing significant development

When Benny started in the industry, the market for prefabricated bathrooms was significantly smaller and there were fewer players. At that time, factory-produced bathrooms were often met with scepticism.

“You had to explain and defend the product to a greater extent. Some associated factory production with lower quality. Today, the view is completely different. Customers know that prefabricated bathrooms provide high and uniform quality, orderly production conditions and a more efficient construction process,” says Benny.

He finds that both developers and contractors today see prefabricated bathrooms as a natural part of the construction projects of the future. Not least because the solution can reduce complexity at the construction site, shorten the construction time and provide better quality control.

Experience makes the difference

For Benny, expertise is not just about having knowledge of the product. It is about having seen many different projects, building types and challenges – and about quickly being able to assess where a prefabricated solution creates the greatest value.

“With many years of experience, you can quickly see how a project should be approached. Does it involve shower pods, shaft solutions or a combination? How can the customer get the most out of the product? These are the kind of things that you learn by being involved in many projects,” he explains.

His experience makes him a strong sparring partner – both internally in Green Box and in the dialogue with customers, consultants, contractors and subcontractors. Over the years, Benny has built up a large network in the industry, and relationships play a key role in his work.

“We make each other better. When we bring experiences and relationships into play, we can together find the best solutions for the project.”

From bathroom to technical building blocks

One of the developments in which Benny has been particularly engaged is the trend towards adding more technical solutions to the bathroom. Today, prefabricated bathrooms are not just about the room itself, but increasingly also about installations, shafts and technical solutions that can further simplify construction projects.

“The future will be more prefabricated. There is almost no limit to how much we can add to the product. The more technical solutions we can gather and prepare, the more value we create for both developer and contractor,” says Benny.

Why Benny chose Green Box

Benny joined Green Box in April 2023 as key account manager with focus on sales and consulting. He brought with him many years of experience from the Scandinavian market and in-depth knowledge of customers, projects and product development.

At Green Box, Benny uses his experience in the dialogue with developers and contractors – both when finding the right solution for the individual project and when incorporating prefabricated bathrooms with the other technical solutions in the building project.

“Producing prefabricated bathrooms in Denmark requires craftsmanship, structure and a strong production apparatus. At the same time, it’s exciting to be in a place where we’re constantly working to create even more value for developers and contractors.”
