Book Hotel

In 2026, the hotel chain Strawberry will open a new hotel in Gothenburg in a former printing house. A new 16-storey extension will be built with 214 rooms, all fitted with prefabricated bathrooms from Green Box.

Historic industrial environment and modern architecture

The hotel, which will have a total of 217 rooms, comprises two buildings. The hotel entrance and lobby will be placed in the original building which until recently housed Rundqvist Boktryckeri, a firm of printers. In addition to the existing building, a new 16-storey extension will also be built, where the hotel’s guest rooms will be located together with communal areas in the form of a restaurant and bar.

The design of the new hotel extension was inspired by the character and architecture of the local area and its industrial heritage. In this way, the new 16-storey building is being carefully integrated with the original property, so that the design sensitively complements the history of the older building.

Modern interpretations of classic elements such as pilasters, brick details and the detailed red façade strengthen the sense of coherence with the historic surroundings and create an architectural whole.

Bathrooms with charm

The development of the prefabricated Green Box bathrooms for the new hotel has taken place in close collaboration between Green Box, the construction and property group Tornstaden and the hotel chain Strawberry. The developer Typographia Fastighets AB and the architects Semrén & Månsson are also behind the project.

Café latte-coloured wall tiles mounted in a horizontal/vertical pattern form the backdrop for the inviting bathrooms, where modern sanitaryware in white and steel are juxtaposed with wood and brass elements. Altogether, it creates an inviting and charming atmosphere that ties in well with the hotel’s classic yet modern feel.
