Hotel Jungmannen

In Kalmar, the construction work on a new destination hotel under the name Jungmannen is in full swing. The hotel is being constructed at Universitetskajen, close to Linnaeus University and Kalmar Harbour, and it is expected to be completed in spring 2027.

Modern hotel project with views and ambitions

The newly-built hotel will be Kalmar’s first in this category for several decades, and it will have around 200 rooms and facilities such as restaurant, conference area, wellness section, fitness room and a sky bar offering views of the city.

LW Fastigheter is behind the project in collaboration with the Strawberry hotel chain, which will also run the hotel.

197 prefabricated bathrooms in modern design

A significant part of the streamlining of the construction project is achieved through the use of prefabricated units. Green Box will supply a total of 197 prefabricated bathrooms to the hotel. The bathrooms come in four different versions, all designed in a light and modern style.

The walls are covered with white, oblong tiles set in a vertical pattern, while the floors are tiled with the same type, but in a square format. The ceiling consists of white painted plaster with an elegant integrated ceiling hatch that allows access to installations without compromising the visual look.

Strategic initiative aimed at strengthening Kalmar as a destination

Jungmannen is part of a large-scale strategic initiative aimed at strengthening Kalmar’s role as a conference and tourist destination. e construction project is implemented in close collaboration with local contractors and investors, and it integrates sustainable solutions and architectural adaptation to the existing harbour environment.

The hotel is expected to not only attract visitors but also contribute positively to the city’s business life and university environment.
