Scandic’s first hotel in the Swedish mountains is being built between Tandådalen and Hundfjället in western Sweden. Green Box is supplying 112 prefabricated bathrooms for the new hotel, which combines classic alpine architecture with modern hotel and wellness facilities.

New hotel in classic alpine style

Scandic’s new hotel in Sälen will also be the hotel chain’s first hotel in the Swedish mountains. The hotel will have 120 rooms, as well as a restaurant, bar, wellness facilities and a fitness centre.

The architecture is inspired by the classic alpine style, featuring wooden facades, balconies and large windows overlooking the landscape. Inside, the focus is on creating a warm and inviting atmosphere with fireplaces and a wellness area boasting a pool, sauna and fitness centre as well as other facilities.

A cohesive design in deep tones

Green Box is supplying 112 prefabricated bathrooms for the project. The consistent use of materials in saturated, dark colours adds distinct character to the bathrooms, complementing the hotel’s modern interpretation of the mountain landscapes.

Dark, stone-effect wall and floor tiles are paired with black furniture, shelves and accents, as well as white bathroom fixtures. The consistent material palette establishes visual continuity across the hotel bathrooms.

With prefabrication, a significant portion of the work on the bathrooms is moved from the construction site to Green Box’s production facility. This is where the complete units are assembled and finalised under controlled conditions before being delivered ready for installation. In a hotel project with 112 bathrooms, this makes it possible to replicate the same solution with high precision and consistent quality across all bathrooms, while reducing the number of work processes that need to be coordinated on the construction site.

Swan-labelled hotel operations

The hotel’s operations must be certified according to the Nordic Swan Label, the official voluntary ecolabel of the Nordic region. Among other things, the certification sets strict benchmarks for resource consumption and environmental impact in daily operations.

The project owner is Lima Besparingsskog, while Consto is responsible for construction. The hotel is expected to open during the 2027-2028 winter season.
