THE KAKTUS TOWERS

Located in central Copenhagen, the Kaktus Towers boast some of Denmark’s most iconic youth accommodation. Green Box bathrooms have been installed in a total of 495 apartments in the two towers designed by the architectural firm Bjarke Ingels Group, (BIG), and named after their distinctive jagged facades.

Distinctive architecture

The Kaktus Towers stand out from most other high-rise buildings in Copenhagen. Here, the architects have really been having fun.

The towers are built up around a central core, with a complex and sculptural facade that twists at each floor level. The building exterior consists of almost 500 pointed balconies, which wind their way upwards, creating clear references to a prickly cactus plant.

Oblique interior angles

The angular design is also a feature of the almost 500 rental apartments, which are characterised by sharp angles and non-rectangular rooms.

This is also true of the prefabricated bathrooms from Green Box, which are customised for the towers and feature a unique design, resulting in something that is as far from your usual student residence bathroom as you could imagine.

It is clear that a no-holds-barred approach has been taken with the design! Instead of a traditional rectangular form, the bathrooms for the Kaktus Towers are designed in a trapezoidal shape, creating a completely unique look while opening up new and exciting interior design options.

For example, the bathrooms feature a large window that offers residents spectacular views from the shower. A wall-mounted mirror the same width as the actual bathroom reinforces the bright and timeless style, which is further enhanced by the white sanitaryware and tiling in each unit.
