Prefabricated bathrooms in innovative leightweight design
Leightweight and robust bathrooms
Green Box bathrooms are built in an innovative lightweight design with high strength and stability. Each bathroom weighs only 325 kg/m2 as a standard.
The walls and ceilings are made of a galvanised steel structure, which ensures that the bathrooms can be stored in the open shell structure and withstand the high humidity to which they are most often exposed until the shell structure has been closed off.
Advantages of Green Box bathrooms in lightweight design
The floor structure consists of a steel frame with a reduced concrete layer cast on a laser-cut template. This procedure guarantees tolerances of +/-1 mm and the correct gradient towards the drains.
We only use full-format plasterboard. This means one wall = one board. In other words, no joins needing to be glued or filled.
Green Box bathrooms are well suited for modular construction, CLT and other types of wooden construction as well as concrete construction. The lightweight construction and low weight can help reduce the overall carbon footprint of bathrooms compared to traditional, heavier solutions.
Carefully conceived construction and engineering
Steel structures manufactured on fully automated machinery and a production line where the bathroom pods come to the employee and not the other way around. Quality materials and digital quality assurance. Green Box documents everything from the first steel profile to the finished prefabricated/modular bathroom.
The result is a high-quality Danish-made bathroom that uses fewer materials and which has a low carbon footprint while helping to ensure that milestones are met. According to in-house calculations from Green Box, the standard estimated carbon footprint of the bathrooms is approx. 2.9 kg CO₂/m²/year.*

Optimisation via digitalisation and automation
The steel structures for all Green Box bathrooms are punched and bent in a fully automated plant.
Our line production optimises the work process, as the bathroom comes to the employee – and not the other way around – unlike in conventional building projects.
At Green Box, we have always invested heavily in digitalisation and automation of as many parts of the overall production process as possible. We have already come a really long way, but we are continuously working to optimise our process even further, including through robotics.
This focus on innovation is what allows us to be at the forefront of the development and production of the market’s preferred prefabricated bathrooms.
Floor construction
that reduces building height
Prefabricated bathrooms from Green Box have a floor structure with a reduced concrete layer that ensures a low installation height – as low as 95 mm.
Because our bathrooms are built around a steel structure, we can significantly reduce the concrete thickness of the floor.
The low installation height makes it possible to reduce floor separation, which means that the total building height is also reduced.
As an added bonus, you will therefore be able to reduce both the price and quantity of building materials in your construction project.
Membranes
Focus on optimal wet room protection
We waterproof the floor in our Green Box bathrooms with high-quality sheet membranes. This enables us to guarantee the correct membrane thickness throughout the bathroom.
Tiled walls are also waterproofed with a high-quality sheet membrane so that moisture does not penetrate the structure. The glue on the sheet membrane also ensures that there is no risk of loose tiles.
Benefits of wet room sheet membrane
- Long-lasting durability and greater protection
Where lubricated membranes require precise application to provide full cover and can even vary in thickness, a wet room sheet membrane results in a uniform and stable water barrier that prevents moisture from penetrating the structure. The uniform water barrier provides effective protection against moisture damage – a great advantage, especially in large-scale building projects where quality and reliability are paramount.
- Effective and quick installation with no drying time
The wet room sheet membrane makes the production process quicker and more efficient as there is no need for drying time unlike with lubricated membranes. This results in a faster completion of the bathrooms and contributes to meeting schedules.
- Economical and less waste of materials
Wet room sheet membranes reduce waste of materials, which not only benefits the environment, but also reduces costs for materials.
- Unique quality assurance
Each single bathroom comes with a wet room membrane which is quality assured in production, which means that you can trust that all bathrooms meet the highest standards – right from the first to the last unit. Via a QR code, our digital quality assurance system gives you full traceability and access to documentation for each individual bathroom.
Ceiling types
Ceilings of steel or plaster
Choose between two ceiling types for your Green Box bathrooms:
Painted steel ceilings are often used in buildings with high frequency of use and wear – for example in student housing units, where there is a special need for solutions with minimal maintenance.
Plaster ceilings are made with the same steel cassettes on which large-format Fermacell fibre gypsum boards are fully glued. This ceiling type is often used in hotels and residential buildings.
When installing spotlights in the ceiling, we use safety boxes that provide a 100% tight ceiling.
Plumbing installations
How we perform plumbing installations
Plumbing installations in Green Box bathrooms are performed in PEX hoses, which are insulated up to junction boxes. All fittings are made of gunmetal.
All installations are pressure tested by means of an electronic pressure testing facility. The results are specified in a quality report, which you can access via a QR code for the individual bathroom.
Drainage installations can be led to the shaft in the walls, thus achieving a low installation height.
Fire and sound requirements
Bathrooms as apartment partitions
Green Box bathrooms are tested and third-party approved by the Danish Institute of Fire (DBI) as apartment partitions both in accordance with fire requirements and sound requirements of 55 dB.
When two bathrooms are placed next to each other, a fire resistance of EI60 is achieved.
We are happy to send you relevant documentation on request.
Strong packaging
Effective protection against weather
Prefabricated bathrooms are often left for many months in the open shell structure, where they risk being exposed to wind and weather. Due to their closed steel structure, however, Green Box bathrooms are protected against weather and penetration of water into the structure.
Before delivery, we close the entrance to our bathrooms with a hinged wooden board, after which the entire bathroom is packaged in strong shrink film. The shrink film is UV resistant, and the bathrooms can therefore be left outside in all kinds of weather for up to six months.
We store your bathrooms in our own large storage facility until the requested delivery date. After delivery, you do not necessarily have to install your bathrooms right away; you can wait until the shell structure is ready. This provides great flexibility and the possibility of adapting the time of assembly in the event of a slip in the schedule for your construction project.
