Our responsibility
Green Box and responsible development
Taking responsibility for the world around us
We all have a responsibility to the world around us – both as individuals and as a company. At Greenbox, we are very conscious of this responsibility. Therefore, in running our business, we focus on responsibility towards the environment, our employees, society and our suppliers.
We want to contribute to a more resource-efficient construction industry by offering solutions that benefit the economy of projects while helping to reduce their environmental impact. With an innovative and solution-oriented focus, we are continually working to improve our products and processes. We see prefabrication as an important part of an optimised and robust construction process – and as a contribution to reducing waste and making better use of resources.
On this page, you can read more about the initiatives and strategies pursued by Green Box to shoulder our responsibility and to support a more responsible development of the construction industry. Among other things, we focus on reducing the carbon footprint of our bathrooms and only use materials that are approved for use in Nordic Swan Ecolabelled construction projects.
Bathrooms with a low carbon footprint
Focus on reduced environmental impact
Consideration for the environment is an integral part of the way we work at Green Box. This is reflected in our prefabricated bathrooms, which are developed with a focus on minimising their environmental impact.
The bathrooms feature an innovative lightweight design that guarantees both high strength and stability. The walls consist of hot-dip galvanised steel cassettes, while concrete is used for the floors – and only there. This combination means that the bathrooms have a lower carbon footprint compared to traditional, heavier alternatives, and can therefore contribute positively to the climate accounts of construction projects.
The Green Box bathrooms are produced in Denmark and transported from our Danish factory to the construction sites. According to our own calculations, the bathrooms emit approx. 2.9 kg CO₂/m²/year* as standard.*

Materials approved for certified construction
We want to protect the environment, our employees and the future users of our bathrooms from unnecessary exposure to harmful substances. At the same time, we focus on supporting construction projects that take an ambitious approach to the climate, health and the responsible choice of materials.
In our production of Green Box bathrooms, we therefore only use materials that are approved for use in Nordic Swan Ecolabelled construction. This means that they meet strict requirements regarding the content of substances which are harmful to the environment and health – from sealants and paints to insulation and flooring.
Our bathrooms can be used in buildings that are certified according to recognised schemes such as DGNB and BREEAM. Our reference projects include several certified hotel and residential projects.
How Green Box supports your DGNB certification
New requirements for DGNB certification of both new builds and renovation projects are in the pipeline. Therefore, we have published a handbook that provides an overview of how Green Box bathrooms can help you meet the requirements for several criteria – both now and in future.
LCA
Documented low environmental impact with Green Box
At Green Box, we are continually working to optimise our products and production processes while at the same time focusing on reducing our environmental impact.
This is why we constantly focus on reducing material waste and ensuring efficient waste management and recycling opportunities wherever possible.
The production of our prefabricated bathrooms is standardised to such an extent that we know the exact quantities of all the materials that are used in the manufacturing process. This allows us to plan our procurement more accurately and minimise waste in production.
We choose materials with a low environmental impact and documented performance, which enables us to deliver bathrooms with low CO₂ emissions overall. According to our life cycle assessment (LCA), emissions are 3–4 kg CO₂/m²/year, depending on the size of the bathroom.*

“We strive to develop prefabricated bathrooms with lower environmental impact and are continuously working to improve our processes.”

Our focus on responsibility and direction
Green Box and the SDGs
For many businesses, the 17 UN Sustainable Development Goals have become a common language and a practical framework for working with responsible development. This also applies to Green Box.
Our responsibility as a company naturally involves contributing where our skills and solutions provide the greatest value.
We cannot contribute to all the SDGs, but we are actively working with those that relate directly to our business and expertise – especially SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure) and SDG 12 (Responsible Consumption and Production).
ESG reporting
In 2024, Green Box A/S started working actively to prepare its first ESG report. As part of A/S Motortramp – our owners – we are covered by the requirements of the new EU legislation and will report in accordance with the European Sustainability Reporting Standards (ESRS).
We approach our ESG work from a solid starting point – based on several years of focused efforts to reduce our carbon footprint in production and implementing initiatives aimed at benefitting both our employees and local anchoring.
At the end of 2024, our first ESG report will be made available to our customers, business partners and other stakeholders. Until then, it is possible to follow our processes and initiatives on this page.
Bæredygtig Herning
We support and shoulder the tast together
In sustainable development, we are strongest by pulling together. In this process, it is also important to ensure that everyone has access to relevant information and knowledge.
Green Box supports sustainable development as a member of Bæredygtig Herning, a Danish network that supports business activities and development in sustainability via focus on knowledge sharing.
The Aulum Mile
Going the extra mile for young people in the labour market
Green Box is part of the Aulum Mile business community.
The Aulum Mile has been created to go the extra mile for young people who, for various reasons, find it difficult to gain a foothold in working life, and to integrate them in the labour market with focus on well-being, security and proper support.
In the business community, we can shoulder a social responsibility by ensuring that young people get the best experience of working life, establish a network of partners to use as sounding boards and, not least, that they have the opportunity to choose between different organisations, depending on their abilities and interests.
Emballageretur
Responsible handling of packaging
From 2025, an extended producer responsibility will come into force for Danish companies to ensure that packaging waste is collected and treated in an environmentally responsible a way as possible so that as much as possible is reused and/or recycled.
At Green Box, we are embracing this responsibility as a natural part of sustainable development built on circular principles. Therefore, we have entered into an agreement with Emballageretur on the collection of our packaging waste.
