Our responsibility
Green Box and responsible development
Taking responsibility for the world around us
We all have a responsibility to the world around us – both as individuals and as a company. At Greenbox, we are very conscious of this responsibility. Therefore, in running our business, we focus on responsibility towards the environment, our employees, society and our suppliers.
We want to contribute to a more resource-efficient construction industry by offering solutions that benefit the economy of projects while helping to reduce their environmental impact. With an innovative and solution-oriented focus, we are continually working to improve our products and processes. We see prefabrication as an important part of an optimised and robust construction process – and as a contribution to reducing waste and making better use of resources.
On this page, you can read more about the initiatives and strategies pursued by Green Box to shoulder our responsibility and to support a more responsible development of the construction industry. Among other things, we focus on reducing the carbon footprint of our bathrooms and only use materials that are approved for use in Nordic Swan Ecolabelled construction projects.
Bathrooms with a proven low carbon footprint
Focus on reduced environmental impact
Consideration for the environment is an integral part of the way we work at Green Box. This is reflected in our prefabricated bathrooms, which are developed with a focus on minimising their environmental impact.
The bathrooms feature an innovative lightweight design that guarantees both high strength and stability. The walls consist of hot-dip galvanised steel cassettes, while concrete is used for the floors – and only there. This combination means that the bathrooms have a lower carbon footprint compared to traditional, heavier alternatives, and can therefore contribute positively to the climate accounts of construction projects.
The Green Box bathrooms are produced in Denmark and transported from our Danish factory to the construction sites. According to our own calculations, the bathrooms emit approx. 2.9 kg CO₂/m²/year* as standard.*

Responsible materials for certified construction
We are committed to protecting the environment, our employees and the future users of our bathrooms from unnecessary exposure to harmful substances. At the same time, we support construction projects that take an ambitious and responsible approach to climate impact, health and material choices.
That is why Green Box bathrooms are produced exclusively using materials approved for Nordic Swan Ecolabelled construction. All materials meet strict requirements for environmental and health performance – from sealants and paints to insulation and flooring.
Green Box bathrooms can be used in buildings certified under recognised sustainability schemes such as DGNB and BREEAM. Our reference projects include a wide range of certified hotel and residential developments.
How Green Box supports your DGNB certification
New and updated requirements for DGNB certification – for both new builds and renovation projects – are on the way.
To make it easier to navigate these changes, we have developed a handbook that shows how Green Box bathrooms can support compliance with key DGNB criteria.
The handbook provides a clear overview of how our solutions help you meet current requirements and prepare for future ones.
LCA
Documented low environmental impact with
Green Box
At Green Box, we continuously optimise our products and production processes with a strong focus on reducing environmental impact.
Our prefabricated bathroom production is highly standardised, giving us precise knowledge of the exact quantities of materials used in each unit. This allows for accurate procurement planning, reduced material waste and efficient waste management, including recycling wherever possible.
We carefully select materials with a low environmental impact and documented performance. As a result, Green Box bathrooms deliver low overall CO₂ emissions.
According to our life cycle assessment (LCA), emissions are 3–4 kg CO₂/m²/year, depending on bathroom size.*

Green Box and the SDGs
Our focus on responsibility and direction
For many businesses, the 17 UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) provide a shared language and a practical framework for working with responsible development. This is also the case at Green Box.
As a company, our responsibility is to contribute where our expertise and solutions create the greatest value.
While we cannot address all 17 goals, we actively focus on those most closely linked to our business. In particular, we work with SDG 9: Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure and SDG 12: Responsible Consumption and Production.
ESG reporting
At Green Box, consideration for the environment, our employees, business ethics and collaboration with the wider community has always been a core part of the way we operate. We work continuously with climate action, social responsibility and good governance practices, and we prioritise transparency and documentation in our efforts.
As part of A/S Motortramp, Green Box A/S complies with the mandatory ESRS standards and actively works to map and communicate our impact on the climate, society and our organisation.
Bæredygtig Herning
We take responsibility together
Sustainable development is strongest when we work together. Shared responsibility also requires open access to relevant information and knowledge.
Green Box supports sustainable development as a member of Bæredygtig Herning – a Danish network that promotes sustainable business development through knowledge sharing and collaboration.
Aulum Milen
Going the extra mile for young people in the labour market
Aulum Mile was established to support young people who, for various reasons, find it difficult to gain a foothold in working life. The initiative focuses on helping them enter the labour market with an emphasis on well-being, security and the right level of support.
Through this business community, we take shared social responsibility by ensuring that young people gain positive and meaningful work experience. At the same time, the network gives them access to a broad group of partner companies, opportunities for guidance and the freedom to choose a workplace that matches their abilities and interests.
Emballageretur
Extended producer responsibility for packaging
From 2025, extended producer responsibility (EPR) will come into force for Danish companies, ensuring that packaging waste is collected and treated in the most environmentally responsible way possible, with a strong focus on reuse and recycling.
At Green Box, we view this responsibility as a natural part of sustainable development based on circular principles. That is why we have entered into an agreement with Emballageretur for the collection and handling of our packaging waste.
