Kirsten Sønderskov appointed new CEO of Green Box

Green Box has appointed Kirsten Sønderskov as its new CEO. The experienced leader is joining Green Box with a solid background as CEO of a manufacturing company and a clear vision of driving Green Box into a new growth phase.

From handball court to boardroom

Kirsten Sønderskov grew up near Lemvig in Jutland, where “freedom with responsibility” was part and parcel of daily life – both at home and in the handball hall where she played handball at elite level. And the sport has inspired her management style.

With an MSc in Management Accounting and Control (MAC), Kirsten Sønderskov comes from a position as CEO of Hilding Anders Denmark, where she and the rest of the organisation achieved impressive results for the bed manufacturer with hundreds of millions of kroner in revenue and a strong bottom line.

Kirsten Sønderskov also has several years of experience as HR and finance manager at GPV International, ThermiSol and Credin Bageripartner, among others, which has given her a sound financial background in management decision-making.

Kirsten Sønderskov will now assume responsibility for Green Box and its prefabricated bathrooms – and build on what she took with her from playing handball: Control the processes, move the ball safely up the field, and then drive it into goal.

“I’m taking over the reins at an organisation which is filled with people who are really enthusiastic about what they do. In fact, the entire organisation is characterised by the employees’ passion and pride. People want to help each other, and they take great pride in the products,” says Kirsten Sønderskov.

Ambitious plans and expansion

Just a few days after Kirsten Sønderskov stepped through the door at Green Box, the groundbreaking ceremony for the first phase of the company’s capacity expansion was held. It marks the start of a new growth journey, with the roadmap for further growth phases already in place.

However, Kirsten Sønderskov does not see expansion as an end in itself. For her, the most important task is ensuring that the organisation can deliver the right product to customers. And as the new CEO, it is necessary to understand what is happening in the ‘machine room’ and the entire organisation.

Positive outlook for the construction industry

According to Kirsten Sønderskov, several trends in the construction industry are pointing in the same direction – towards increased sustainability requirements, shorter distances for truck deliveries to and from the construction site and an acute shortage of skilled tradesmen. This is where she sees Green Box’s greatest strength.

“Green Box’s prefabricated bathrooms challenge the construction industry in a positive way with carefully considered designs and proper execution,” she says. “When we deliver ready-made bathroom modules, contractors and builders save time, transport and specialist labour, so fewer hands are needed on site. Green Box is thus able to greatly help reduce complexity and coordination at the construction site, and we’re committed to minimising waste while increasing quality.”

And according to her, it’s a long-term vision:

“I’m here for the long haul, while the company has a solid foundation and is in the process of expanding its production facilities and new markets. The Board of Directors and the company’s owner A/S Motortramp are united in their approach, and there is a strong desire throughout the organisation to develop the business – now it’s about unlocking Green Box’s potential and achieving our common, ambitious growth goals.”
