In Tårnby Municipality, a former factory area is being transformed into a new residential area with social senior citizen and family housing. The area originally housed a plush (‘plys’ in Danish) factory and is therefore known by the name “Plyssen”. Green Box is supplying 167 prefabricated bathrooms for the new complex.

From plush factory to social housing

At Plyssen, an industrial-historical factory plant from the late 19th century is being transformed into a vibrant residential area with a total of 180 social housing units in an attractive location in the Greater Copenhagen area.

The project combines the gentle preservation of historic buildings with modern new construction, the aim being to create a development that ties buildings, history, culture and people together as a whole. Parts of the old commercial buildings are preserved and adapted to modern requirements, while new blocks are constructed in a style aligning with the existing structures.

There is a great need for more and better social housing – especially in the Greater Copenhagen area. Plyssen shows how housing and urban development can be realised smartly and responsibly by reusing the existing building stock and adding new ones where it makes sense.

Custom bathrooms with character

Plyssen is an exciting and ambitious project that Green Box is proud to contribute to. A large part of the newly built homes in the historic area will be furnished with prefabricated bathrooms from Green Box.

The bathrooms are tailored to the project and contribute to a bright and inviting atmosphere in the homes thanks to light green wall tiles in the 7.5 x 30 cm format installed upright. The wall tiles are beautifully complemented by grey, square floor tiles and white sanitation. The result: A clean and modern expression with character. The bathrooms are also supplied with radiators.

The prefabricated bathrooms are series-produced at Green Box’s own factory in Denmark before being delivered to the construction site. This supports an efficient construction process, high quality and a uniform result in each bathroom.
